Dr Amin Roberts

Paediatric Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist

Dr Roberts is a graduate of the University of Auckland’s School of Medicine. He completed his post-graduate paediatric training in the Auckland region at Starship Children’s Hospital, Kidz First (Middlemore Hospital), and Waitakere Hospital (Waitematā) followed by advanced training in Paediatric Gastroenterology at Starship Children’s Hospital. He then went on to complete further sub-specialty training in intestinal failure, rehabilitation and transplantation at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

In addition to his private practice, he works as a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist at Starship Children’s Hospital where he is also the Clinical Director of the paediatric arm of the New Zealand National Intestinal Failure and Rehabilitation Service.

Dr Roberts is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Auckland and is actively involved in both undergraduate and post-graduate teaching of medical students and junior doctors. He is a member of the Gastroenterology advanced training sub-committee of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), an organisation that oversees the training of Gastroenterologists across Aotearoa New Zealand.

Dr Roberts is actively engaged in multiple research projects, both locally and internationally, through his affiliations with organisations such as the Paediatric Australasian Gastroenterology Research Network (PEDAGREE), the Australasian Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (AuSPEN), the International Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplant Association (IIRTA), the Asia Pan-Pacific Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology & Nutrition and patient advocacy through the Gastroenterology Clinical Network of the Paediatric Society of New Zealand (PSNZ). He regularly publishes in peer reviewed medical journals.
